Pastor George W. Carmichael
No stranger to South Jersey, Pastor George graduated in 1970 from Sterling High School in Somerdale, New Jersey. A football enthusiast, he played for the Sterling High School Silver Knights football team throughout his high school years. After graduating from Lee-McCrae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina, Pastor George married his high school sweetheart, Deborah (Jones) Carmichael. The new couple accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and they both became members of Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania under the spiritual leadership of the late Reverend Benjamin Smith, Sr.
Advancing his biblical studies, Pastor George attended and graduated from the Deliverance Evangelistic Bible Institute and the Jameson School of Ministry, both in Philadelphia. His experience also includes counseling juveniles committed to the Juvenile Justice Commission System of New Jersey. He was serving God and Deliverance Evangelistic Church faithfully for 28 years in various capacities when he was divinely called and commissioned to begin a deliverance ministry in South Jersey. He currently co-shepherds New Mercies Evangelistic Church with his beloved wife, Deborah and loves to see people understand and fulfill their God-ordained destinies.
Pastor Deborah Carmichael
Pastor Deborah was born and raised in Magnolia, New Jersey. As a little girl, Pastor Deborah attended the after-school program at First Baptist Church of Magnolia, now the home of New Mercies Evangelistic Church. After graduating from Magnolia Public School, she attended and graduated from Sterling High School in Somerdale, NJ. She married the love of her life, George W. Carmichael and together they have raised a beautiful daughter, Rachel Carmichael.
Pastor Deborah served for 28 years as a faithful member of Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania under the spiritual guidance of the late Rev. Benjamin Smith, Sr. She graduated from the Deliverance Evangelistic Bible Institute and the Jameson School of Ministry, both in Philadelphia. While a member of Deliverance Evangelistic Church, she served as youth teacher, supervisor of the 24-hour prayer line and launched an auxiliary ministry - the Neighborhood Bible Club in Somerdale, NJ. Through her passion for souls, Pastor Deborah was able to extend the outreach of the Neighborhood Bible Club to include not only youth but adults. She was divinely called and commissioned to co-pastor New Mercies Evangelistic Church and her love and compassion for people is evident in everything that she does.
